As we have now entered the month of February, I wanted to send a message highlighting the most pressing "tasks" for Seniors right now. As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or needs, please do not hesitate to reach out to me anytime!
1 - SCHOLARSHIPS
We are in the thick of Scholarship Season! Keep up to date on all scholarship deadlines as most private scholarships are due between February and March. Any scholarship information that is shared with my office at school will be available on my DTHS Scholarship List that you can access at any time at: DTHS Scholarship List
I update this spreadsheet as often as I can, but at least every 2 weeks right now. When you receive one of these messages from me, that means I have just updated it! I highlight the scholarships added since my last update each time to help you review the list more quickly.
Reminder: The first tab (Current Scholarship List) is the most recent list, and the second tab (Master List) is where I keep track of any scholarship that I have ever received information on - if they are not highlighted then I have not received information on that scholarship for the current year.
2 - FAFSA
A reminder that ALL seniors are required to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as a Nebraska State Graduation Requirement. I have included my previous in-depth information about the FAFSA at the bottom of this message, but here are a couple of resources that can provide your family assistance in this process. I know that this can feel like a daunting task, but there is help available!
FAFSA COMPLETION SESSION:
I recently received information about some FAFSA Completion Sessions in which financial aid professionals from Central Community College, Hastings College and UNK will assist seniors and their families with completing the FAFSA process! This looks like an awesome opportunity to get FAFSA help - check it out if you are still stressed about the FAFSSA process!
I have attached a flyer to this message for more information.
(One note: You must have your FSA ID process completed before attending - ideally 3 days before the session.)
The remaining sessions are:
Saturday, February 8 at CCC-Kearney Center - 9am-Noon
Saturday, February 22 at CCC-Grand Island - 9am-Noon

EDUCATIONQUEST
EducationQuest is a free service that is available to help answer any of your questions about the FAFSA process. These people are AMAZING and are more than willing to help with the entire process, any questions, or if you have issues completing any part of the FAFSA. Please utilize them as they really are the experts! Simply go to: www.educationquest.org to get in contact with them!
QUICK (4 minute) VIDEO:
One of the quickest and easiest resources that I found was this short YouTube video that EducationQuest has created. This video walks you quickly through the exact steps of actually filling out the FAFSA form. I would recommend that you check it out as it is the quickest tutorial that I have seen and a great resource to start with (or use as you fill out the FAFSA)!
