The hallmark of an exceptional school staff member is making every student feel genuinely seen, known, and cared for. At Doniphan-Trumbull High School, no one better embodies this quality than Ms. Vickie White, an esteemed recipient of this year's Cardinal Way Award.
White was nominated by countless colleagues who lauded her as the heart and soul of the D-T community. She has formed lasting bonds with generations of students for years, taking the time to learn their names and stories.
"Vickie knows each student who walks these halls by name and most of their parents as well," said one nominator. "She is an institution at D-T, and our students appreciate the genuine care and love she shows them daily."
Colleagues praised White's warm, nurturing presence that creates an environment where every student feels safe, respected, and supported.
"Vickie is polite and kind in every interaction," shared a nominator. "She shows sincere concern for our students' wellbeing and goes above and beyond to ensure they have what they need to thrive."
White's positive impact extends to the DT staff as well. She approaches each request and situation with a calm, respectful demeanor that uplifts those around her.
"Vickie is tireless in her efforts and never appears irritated, no matter how many requests come her way," said a colleague. "She speaks with profound respect to everyone she encounters."
White was celebrated at the district's annual Cardinal Way ceremony on May 23rd, where she was honored for her invaluable role as a pillar of the D-T community. She joins a prestigious group of past recipients selected for their outstanding contributions to the D-T community.
