Megan Hatt, a dedicated special education teacher at Doniphan-Trumbull High School, has been named one of this year's Cardinal Way Award recipients for her exceptional work inspiring and empowering students inside and outside the classroom.
A student's family and colleagues nominated Hatt for her unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment where every student can thrive.
"Ms. Hatt has always positively influenced her students," one family nominator wrote. "She works tirelessly to help them with assignments, encourage them when they're ready to quit and create a connection so they know they have someone guiding and supporting them every step."
Colleagues praised Hatt’s compassion, noting her genuine care for each student's well-being and success. "She takes the time to understand her students' unique needs and circumstances," a nominator shared. " Megan creates a safe space where students can open up and find the confidence to overcome hurdles."
In addition to her work in the classroom, Hatt supported the creation of an innovative program that empowers students to apply their skills through entrepreneurial activities and leadership opportunities. Under her guidance, participants thrived as they explored real-world business concepts and believed in their ability to achieve.
Hatt was honored at the district's annual Years of Service ceremony on May 23rd, where she was lauded for her excellence in teaching, visionary leadership, and nurturing the unlimited potential of every student. She joins a prestigious group of past recipients selected for their outstanding contributions to the D-T community.
