April 3, 2024 - Doniphan-Trumbull Education Foundation has awarded nearly $4,000 in educator mini-grants for the 2024 academic year to fund educational opportunities, experiences, and enhancements outside the district's general budget. A total of 7 grants were awarded, ranging from $241 to $750 per grant, impacting approximately 450 students across Doniphan-Trumbull Public School.
Funded projects include:
D-T 1st Grade - Ms. Hoffman & Ms. Dyer - Literacy in the Classroom Project: Purchase of Tonie Sets to support students to achieve their reading goals for both NWEA (RIT Growth Goal) and fluency ambitious growth rate each week - $750.00
The Cardinal Warehouse - Ms. Hatt - The grant provided purchased a sublimation printer. This grant allows students to expand their knowledge and skill base into another fast-growing area of creativity. Sublimation printers allow students to create, print, and produce a variety of products including socks, shirts, tumblers, coffee mugs, keychains, ornaments and so much more. Using Canva, students can create an image they desire, print it using a sublimation printer, and then utilize the heat press to transfer the image onto the product - $241.44
The Cardettes Dance Team - Ms. Dulitz - This grant supports the team in adding vital pieces of equipment to the dance team. The dance team needs music to practice their routines. This grant will help the dance team purchase a speaker for the dance team would be a huge upgrade that is much needed. - $474.48
D-T Elementary - Mr. Engel - This grant award will assist in transforming the west gym into a meeting space with technologies to facilitate digital presentations for large groups and gatherings. We envision this being utilized throughout the year during school, at school events, and during community events taking place in the West Gym. The award in this grant will go towards the installation of a motorized screen measuring 16' x 1O' (222" diagonally) that can be seamlessly lowered and raised with a switch and remote control. $750.00
D-T Future Farmers of America - Mr. Johnson - This grant supports the newly elected chapter officers to attend a 2-day training put on by the Nebraska FFA association. - $500.00
D-T 1st Grade - Ms. Braden & Ms. Corwin - Classroom Library Addition: This grant award enriches our classroom library by acquiring a diverse selection of books across various genres, catering to the varied interests and reading levels of our students. This grant award allows for the purchase of an additional 115 books for our classroom library. This addition to our library provides each student with the opportunity to have 5 to 6 new book titles in our class library. $487.96
D-T 5th & 6th Grades - Mr. Schultz, Ms. Stratton, Ms. Kerr, & Ms. Barnett - Novel Studies: This grant supports the purchase of classroom book sets that allow students further study in genre, author, or theme to further understand beyond the standard text resources. Students will improve comprehension, fluency, and overall excitement for reading. $720.00
The funds for the mini-grants were granted from the annual D-T Education Foundation Fundraising efforts, including donations, the Go Big Give community fundraising campaign, the Launching Great Minds annual event, and support from the endowment contributed by community members and business partners.
The annual Go Big Give is coming up on May 2, 2024. According to the Go Big Give Website (https://www.gobiggive.org/); Go Big GIVE brings Hall, Hamilton, Howard, and Merrick Counties together as one community, raising money and awareness for our local nonprofits during the 24-hour online giving day on May 2nd. Go Big Give inspires people to give generously to nonprofits making the heartland stronger, creating a thriving community for all.
The D-T Education Foundation benefits from Go Big Give through matching donations and other programs on this one day of giving.
