Doniphan Trumbull Public Schools Mental Health Program

2023-24

The Doniphan-Trumbull school district contracts Mental Health services through ESU9 on
school premises three days a week through the 2023-2024 school year. These services are
available at no cost to the student or family and insurance is not utilized.
Please welcome Jon Loetterle, a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) with
the ESU 9, bringing over 25 years of experience and a special interest in working with youth and
young adults. He is a Hastings Senior High School graduate, served on active duty in the United
States Air Force and later continued his education at Hastings College and then the University of
Nebraska at Kearney. Before joining the ESU 9, Jon has worked with the Nebraska Department
of Correctional Services, was the Director of Counseling Services at Hastings College for 21
years, owned/operated a private practice office and most recently has been a provider with
Integrated Pediatrics, PC in Hastings. Jon and his wife Ronda (a professional educator with
Hastings Public Schools) have three adult daughters and two grandsons. In addition to loving his
time with family, he enjoys hunting, fishing, cooking/eating, and most any sporting event and
outdoor activity. He is excited to join the team at Doniphan Trumbull Public Schools and looks
forward to serving the students and families of the district
The goal of the mental health program is to provide neutral individual and group support to
students experiencing emotional distress that is negatively impacting their focus, attention, and
productivity related to school performance. The LMHP will NOT diagnose or provide
psychological evaluations of students and therapeutic sessions will last up to 30 minutes. The
number of sessions a student may participate in varies depending on the needs of the student.
Sessions take place in a confidential location on school grounds and content is to remain
between the LIMHP and the student unless a safety issue is identified. The LIMHP will be
present in classrooms, lunchroom, and other areas of the school in an effort to better
understand the school culture and peer relations. The LMHP will collaborate with Doniphan-
Trumbull administration, staff, and teachers to collectively create an environment encouraging
of wellness for all. Keep in mind that these services are not intended to replace outpatient
therapy.
A legal guardian must sign a consent form for their student to be seen in therapeutic sessions.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the administration.
